Inter-Regional Championships 2008

The Inter-Regional Championships is an event that takes place every year and brings together the best Tristar 2, Tristar 3 and Youth triathletes to compete for their region. The Eastern Region have been improving over the last few years and have achieved 3^rd place for the last two years.

This year the event will take place on 31 August in Crawley, Sussex (closer than the last two years  in Glasgow). Selection for the Eastern Region team is given below.

The team will consist of 14 athletes across the 3 age groups. In addition to the 14 athletes selected for the team a first reserve in each age group will also be identified case a selected team member becoming unavailable. Those who are selected for the team plus first reserves will be expected to participate in at least 2 of three training events, currently earmarked for Sun 3rd August, Sat 16th August and Mon 25th August.

Qualification Criteria - Tristar 2 and Tristar 3 (two places, male and female in each category)

Selection will be based on performances at three regional races. The best performing male and female athlete in each age group at these races will be selected automatically taking into account their best two performances. The second slot within each age group will be decided by committee based on performances at one or more of these same events.

Ø East Essex Kids Tri – Saturday 7 June

Ø Rob Mclean Junior Tri – Sunday 29 June

Ø Norwich Junior Tri – Saturday 5 July

Qualification Criteria - Youth (three places, male and female)

Selection will be based at performances at two national events. The highest placed girl and boy from the Eastern Region in the first race will be selected automatically providing they are within 10% of the overall winning time. The second slots will go to the highest placed girl and boy from the Eastern Region in the second race again providing they are within 10% of the overall winning time. If the highest placed finisher has already been selected from the first race then the second slot will automatically go to the next highest placed ER finisher (if within 10% limit). The third slot will be by committee selection based on performances at these two races.  If there is no third candidate from these two races then selection for the third slot will be based on performances at the Tristar races above.
